Happy New Year from VEMEC's Director!
Last year, the Veterans Emergency Management Evaluation Center (VEMEC) partnered with EM4CC and the National Healthcare Coalition Resource Center (NHCRC) to organize the highly successful 6th Annual Advancing & Redefining Communities (ARC) Conference. During the conference, I was interviewed by Jessica Brown, a freelance writer who used to work with the MESH Coalition. Jessica’s article, Innovations in Healthcare Disaster Management for Veterans, has been published on Domestic Preparedness (DomPrep), a thought-leadership information service for the preparedness community created in 1998. In the article, I discuss how VEMEC is working within and outside the VA to develop an evidence base for emergency management that will assist Veterans, their families, and their communities during disasters.
We are actively collaborating with partners to improve community resilience both inside and outside the VA. To learn more about our projects, visit YouTube and watch some of our researchers describing their work.
Thank you for staying connected with VEMEC/ARC! We will be sending monthly email updates concerning our latest projects, seminars, training opportunities, and registration information for ARC 2016 in Washington, DC. Please contact us with any questions and comments at 818-891-7711 ext. 6100 or VEMEC-ARC@va.gov.
