ARC 2017 Workshop Abstract Instructions

Abstracts are being accepted for the 8th Annual Advancing and Redefining Communities for Emergency Management (ARC) Conference. This year's Conference will be held in conjunction with the 6th Annual National Healthcare Coalition Preparedness Conference, which is co-hosted by the National Healthcare Coalition Resource Center, a program founded and operated by three non-profit healthcare coalitions—MESH Coalition, Northern Virginia Hospital Alliance, and the Northwest Healthcare Response Network—and is held in partnership with the Veterans Emergency Management Evaluation Center (VEMEC).

Become a presenter – Submit an abstract for the ARC workshop by August 31, 2017.

We welcome abstracts related to all areas of disaster preparedness, and in particular around the workshop theme, Crisis Communication and Collaboration.

The meeting will accommodate the following formats, each requiring a different type of preparation and form of presentation.

1. Oral Presentation. The oral presentation session is a collection of related research presentations. The presenter is allotted approximately ten minutes to present, with five minutes at the end of each presentation for a question-and-answer exchange with the audience.

2. Poster. The poster session will host posters accompanied by their authors for an assigned period of time, usually 45 minutes. Posters report projects that can be readily summarized in graphical form, such as through tables, pictures, graphs, or other figures.

Abstracts should be no more than 350 words, and include Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Please indicate your preference for presentation format when you submit your abstract.

Each abstract will be evaluated by expert reviewers who will be blinded to authors' identities. Selection criteria include quality, timeliness, and relevance to the conference theme. Abstracts with the highest scores and greatest relevance to the meeting theme will be selected. All decisions regarding abstracts and presentation format will be made by the Review Committee and will be final. Authors will be notified of decisions by September 29, 2017.
